Damn I really like to see them pose to powerful and monumental music like the theme from Exodus or King of Kings - to me that is soooooo much better than the ridiculous "posing" that we see at contests today.

It was 1998, 50 years after the first Nabba Universe in 1948. Steve Reeves had less than 2 years to live by then.

It's a shame that John Grimek was not there for the ceremony.   Coincidentally, he died in that same year, 1998.

I would like to see John Brown greeting other legends standing there, he just ignore and pass them, as Steve Reeves has a surprised look on his face...
Steve Reeves, Roy Duvall, Reg Park, Bill Pearl some of the best gentlemen of the sport.
Mike Hargitay seems brittle and tired, he lived more than 8 years afterwards though Sad
Steve Reeves seems as broad and athletic as ever, Reg looks powerful, so does Bill Pearl, but on the plumb side.
Roy Duvall is in the best shape of all I guess.
They all are an great inspiration, but it makes you think, even these perfect physical specimens age, we should cherish our lives...

What an awesome gathering of legends.

Reeves, Park and Pearl all looked great. Hard to believe Reeves had so little time left, he looked the healthiest of the three. What magnificent genes.

I don't remember John being up on stage at the dinner & I didn't go to the show next day. I think that only overall title winners were asked to make speeches & the people I mentioned above were those classed as legends ..Maybe Mickey was there for his 1955 amateur win, marrying Jayne Mansfield plus his ability to make long & interesting speeches .
