Why didn't we hear more about Dick Dubois he was tall, handsome and very similiar to Steve Reeves physiquewise, why wasn't he around in bb scene more often?
Could you please enlighten me, I'm really curious, he seems be a star material...
and lets not forget he was Mr. America when he was only 21!!!

Dick Dubois became a preacher. Bodybuildings loss - his congregation's gain.

Different times..

How can we bring those times back? Cry

The sad thing is we can't. That's why we're all on Ironage.

I really have to disagree.
There are some great natural associations and a thriving interest in natural bodybuilding. Here in the UK we have two great organisations, the Natural Physique Association, and the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation.

Check out the great classic physiques of members at http://www.npabodybuilding.com. This is run by a really nice guy who posts here sometimes called Michael Phillips. Michael is a totally committed supporter of natural bodybuilding and works very hard to promote this. The NPA requires members to be lifelong drug free  Smiley

And if you think there's no cameraderie like the old days, the BNBF [url]http://www.bnbf.co.uk[url] holds nationwide club meets where members meet once a month at a gym and learn from more experienced competitors.
There's posing practice, nutritional advice and training ideas shared and learnt. All very supportive whatever your level.

On top of all this the UKBFF, (a non drug tested org), now run a 'Classic' Class for guys who don't want to build too big but want a classic, asthetically pleasing physique.

The problem, Steve, is that the associations are natural in name only. There is a huge difference between professing lifetime natural status or even 10 years drug-free, and this actually being the case in reality.

It's a well worn argument and one I don't really care to advance, except to say that the 'can' of natural bodybuilding doesn't always contain what's presented on the label.

Ofcourse this is a matter of faith, but I would like to see him live a life of Casanova with that looks and smile...
I mean he's tall, handsome and has a classic physique, there has been many good looking bodybuilders over the ironage,  but Dick DuBois is top in my book with Steve Reeves, living a spiritual life is nothing to be criticized but as said I would like to see him live larger than life...
to me, with that kind of good looks you have to perish physicality.
This is ofcourse my humble opinion, I'm sure he lead a meaningful life...

Yea Dean, I agree with you. Perhaps I'm being a bit naive but I like to believe that most natural competitors are genuine and honest about being clean. I can't see what true satisfaction can be gained by someone taking gear as an advantage in a natural comp. Surely the people who do that don't get the true reward of knowing they earnt that position on an equal playing field.

What's interesting is that you don't see too many naturals who look as good as some of  the champions of the 40,s and 50's, and yet we have progressed in terms of supplements and knowledge, or have we?

I would say that Bodybuilding has made major strides since the 40s/50s. The current urine/blood tested Natural championship winners simply blow away the old timers  by comparrison. I was at Muscle Beach in the late 40s every weekend and training with Stever Reeves, Scott and Smith in the mid 50s. I love the physiques of old...the current crop is simply better.

Well they are certainly more defined and condition is everything in natural comps, but I really like the physiques Steve Reeves, Gironda and you guys had back then  Undecided
