Anabolic Food « on: February 26, 2010, 11:23:48 pm »
I have been spending a great deal of time reading about different diets over my training years and have come to the point where I wonder if food really does have anabolic effects. Does it really make that much of difference what you eat in terms of raising your testosterone? Does eating a high fat/low carb/moderate protein diet really boost your testosterone/muscle building abilities? And if so, is it really of any significant value?
I have read lots of info on what bodybuilders of the Golden Age ate compared to what some of them eat now, and it's all over the board. You have Arnold and the most of the Gold's crew eating low carb/high fat/moderate protein, you have Mentzer and Steve Reeves eating almost the exact opposite. Bill Pearl was vegetarian (although some may say he made his best muscle gains when he ate meat).
Just wondering what anyone's thought on this were.
There are certain foods, not diets, that I know have been proven to increase testosterone. Broccoli is one of them. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
