Post Your Current Supplement Regimen

There have been threads about posting your current training routine so I thought it might be fun to post what your current supplement regimen is.  As of right now I take ON 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein after a workout as well as Bodytech's L-Glutamine and occasionally I will take Jack3d before a workout if I need energy (works GREAT by the way).

I don't know much about supplements (Scott Ferich is the man) but my son has used Jack3d and really likes it.

I remember when I worked a World Gym back in Ohio, the head trainer who was a professor of exercise physiology at Ohio State, recommended Jacked to someone. I looked for it online awhile back and am pretty sure it changed to Jack3d. What do you notice from taking it? I'm thinking about purchasing it in the near future.

It is one of the few supplements that is actually worth buying.  This stuff is awesome.  I started hearing about it and decided to look into it.  Well after much reading and research I decided to give it a try.  Wow!  The first thing you notice is a sort of tingling, itchy feeling.  Sorta like when you take niacin.  Then about 30 minutes after ingesting it BAM!  It's on.  Very intense focus and kinda gives you a sense of rage towards the iron your about to lift.  Makes you want to kick that bars ass.  Like right before you get into a fight.  This kinda made me wonder what was causing this so I looked at the very basic ingredient label and it was just caffeine, creatine, beta-alanine, AAKG, and Methylxanthines.  I couldn't figure it out as there are many other pre-workout supplements that have these same ingredients and nowhere near the same feeling.  I was like super human.  All my lifts went up, and I didn't feel the need to rest between sets I just wanted to keep going and going.  Well, then I noticed in parenthesis at the  where it lists  (Geranium [stem], shizandrol A )
Well, I've never heard of this stuff so I decide to look it up.  And guess what?  It activates the same adrenaline release in the brain that you hear about when a #120 mom lifts a car off of her kid.  This is also know as the "fight or flight" mechanism we get during certain intense or seemingly dangerous situations.  That was what I was feeling.  I know this may sound far fetched but I swear it to be true.  Now, this does not occur in the same way if you have recently eaten.  You must take it on an empty stomach.  And each individual must figure out their own dosage.  I suggest start with 1 scoop and then go from there.  I take the max dose of 3 scoops.  I tried 4 and got all skitzzed out not good.  Don't go over 3.  Also don't take after about 3 or 4 in the afternoon or you will have some trouble sleeping.  But, long story short, I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a little pick-me-up to boost their training.

The beta alanine gives the weird itchy/tingly feeling within minutes.  What's the dosage of the caffeine and caffeine like compounds?

How do people feel in the hours after the workout when taking this?  Is there any backlash from the stimulants?  Edgy, irritable feelings?  Sleep problems if taken too late?

You do feel kinda wired for a while but not edgy or icky just focused.  I think the intensity and duration of your workout has a lot to do with it.  On days when I do heavy deadlifts or squats it seems like I "use up" more of the stimulus than on my easier lift days.  So maybe a lighter dose might be better if you are only doing a lighter session.  But, on the big boy moves I think you burn up most of the compounds by workouts end.  You do stay up and alert and focused for a few hours but not as intense.  I like the feeling and get a lot of other stuff done that I would normally put off.

Ultimate orange originally had ephedra and caffeine as main ingredients.

I took Jack3d as my last Pre Workout Supplement. I loved it as well. I never went over 1 scoop and only used .75 most of the time. I would recommend too. Right now my supplement regimen includeds American Whey Vanilla 45 minutes before workout and immediately after with Now's CarboGainer. I also have Now's Glutamine. I also take Gaspari's SuperPump before my workout as well. When I first started taking it, I felt amazing, but its effects have worn off. But I only take 1 scoop as opposed to 2-3. I also just purchased Scivation's Xtend.

Currently I take a B-complex, vit c, vit e (depends on the day), omega 3-6-9, and dessicated liver tablets after every meal. I also take a protein powder and a creatine supplement, which supplies all of the amino acids not produced in the body.

I have tried the "intense energy" supplements like No-Xplode and other things like that. They make you feel a lot of energy and focus, but you are probably better off without them. Not so healthy. I just feel that all of my favorite bodybuilders didn't have these things back then so it's not necessary, plus there isn't much science behind them even though they say there is..

You should have seen the bogus science'y products at the Arnold Classic.  Sticking to the basics can be good advice for the body and the wallet.

Remember why Zane was known as the "Chemist"? If you do not...it was because he took suppliments all freakin day long. Vit B1 for fat transportation, mega dose C and B-6 for water control. More B-6 for protein assimilation...on and on and on and on. If he were competing today he would be....me, at least suppliment wise.

I have always been a suppliment/nutrition junkie and even went back to school some 25 years ago to earn my MS in Nutrition. Is this "in a bottle" approach to Bodybuilding/youthful energy at 70/Life Extension  expensise....yipes!!, tell me about it.

My list is long. Too long.

Carmine, there are two young guys I work with that ask me questions about the old days, training, supplements etc.....they told me about Jack3d so I told my son. He says it's GREAT for pre-workout. I, nor my son,  are big on supplements but for what it's worth, he swears by it. Cry

I use 3-5 scoops of All the Whey's protein blend, 4-5 grams of fish oil (doctors orders), glutamine (5-10g) and BCAA's (10-20g) powder (both from allthewhey.com),wheat germ daily. I usually have 3 scoops of whey a day together in the morning for breakfast, but have another 2 or 3 after workouts on those days. I have a very busy schedule, so this seems to work very well for me.
