There are many threads on this forum that I have enjoyed but none is more enjoyable than this one authored by Les Spendlove about meeting his idol Freddy Ortiz at the 1968 NABBA Pro Universe in London.  And his story about "Arnault" and his misadventure with "viskee" is priceless!

I read through this thread today. It's a great read. Lots of sound advice from great members. Some I haven't heard from in a while and then there is Sal Paradise who passed away last September 28th.

I'll second that thread and add this one along the same vein due to oldtimer's repost and the Brooks Kubick article.  Whenever I get too analytical with devising a 'perfect program' (paralysis by analysis I believe is the term)  I look back on this thread and the one Mark posted to remind me simpler is always better.
