That's a Mr. Olympia physique in 2006. I may have to agree with Oakley- Arnie, even in '74, couldn't compete with that!
Not with chicken legs. And before anyone comes on here to defend Arnold, his legs may have had size on an absolute scale, but certainly not in proportion with his upper body AT ALL and they would have been totally blown away by Haney's awesome thigh development. Funny how ND always complains about Ronnie's thighs being too big for his calves or his biceps and triceps being too small for his forearms, but doesn't say a thing about Arnold's legs in relation to his upper body? hmm..... Ah put it into context , one can argue that Arnold had appropriate quads for his time , and that you can't judge Arnold by todays size standards , back when Arnold was competing who had bigger quads than him? his quads wern't like lets say Mike Quinns , or at the time Francis Benfatto , either way Arnold's lower body matched his upper a lot better than you give him credit for , and they didn't lack development A'la Coleman's calves

Coleman's calves don't lack development. They are probably top 10 in the history of bodybuilding for actual sheer size. The flaw with his calves is the complete lack of diamond separation as they are just sort of big dense blobs of muscle with no visible shape. They are not small however. They are enormous. That is an objective fact. In relation to his thighs they may lack for size, but they definitely aren't small on an absolute scale.

ok, so we aren't allowed to judge Arnold by today's standards, but apparently we're allowed to judge Ronnie by the ironage standard?

And btw, I think Arnold (at his best) looked just fine, even by today's standards. Put it this way, I find the quads of many of today's comptitors "over-developed", especially in proportion to the rest of their physiques.

Actually neither, we are here to celebrate a specific era and those who participated in it! http://ironage.us/yabbse/index.php?topic=7319.0
Nothing hard to undestand there. We stand by the Ironage standards, that's what brought us to the dance. Generally when modern bodybuilders are brought into the conversation it is because they do represent the standards that that we grew up on and it's a breath of fresh air. If members are insistent on prasing standards other that what we hold as perfection here, don't be suprized if they are met with less than enthusiastic responces. We will never apologize or justify to anyone why Ironage is on the map! You don't walk into Baskin Robbins and proclaim how great McDonalds french fries are. Well we're like Baskin Robbins and if you want to discuss ice cream ...this is the place!

I know it sounds cliched but I have to say Haney looks majestic in the recent pic additions above. There are certain bbers at a certain time in their careers where they have this look, its rare but when they do you cant help but admire them.

No I'm not on steroids, but thanks for asking!

First, I agree with Plate...The promoter and the crowd got it's money worth from Lee. He showed up for a guest posing gig in amazing condition.
Secondly, at the time (in the Ironage) Lee was the BEST. He had that amazing back, great lines, small waist...many argue about lack of bicep size, but he looks pretty damn good in those pics. On top of a great physique, he was a true gentleman.
I remember an old ESPN version of the Mr. O (1988?) where Lee was asked when he would retire. He said that he was the "physique of the day", but when Mother Nature whups up something better, he'll know when to walk away. I guess he looked at Dorian Yates placing second to him and said, Mother Nature has gone the next step and walked away.
Lee Haney was a true champion and will NEVER lose his place in the history of BB.
