WELL............it is in the BAG!!!! Just returned from LA where I completed the photo shoot for Iron Man. I was in the MECCA in Venice. Thank God they are used to having shoots there. Nobody noticed and that helped me to relax and focus on the pictures. I was tanned and fairly ripped!!! Just hope the pics show the fruits of my LABOR!!! My quads were by far my best body part. Incredible considering I only trained them the last 4 weeks. Doing at least 90 minutes a day on my bike was killing my strength not to mention my knees. But they came back at the end. Now, as I mentioned above, the real TEST comes from here into next year. To maintain my lower weight and add some more size. I am extremely motivated for the Natural O. I do have some reservations regarding the tightness of my skin around the lower abs area. If it stay as loose as it is now I may not enter. It is not a pretty site...... D-Mass

Thanks muscle5 for the post.
Bob.......... Actually you are right on the money....I planned on doing a weighted crunch machine. The only problem is the abdominal muscles are not very thick. Thus their development outward is not too great....however it is in my big picture. The two things I need to do most are..... keep my fats cells empty until the event hoping the skin will tighten up more ...and yes....increase my ab strength. D-Mass

Opa Dave - Looking forward to meet you at the Natural Olympia next year. I too am in hard planned training for the event. I am excited that it will be held in Chicago because for me that is where it all started and that is where it will end (my last show). Looking forward to also seeing some old friends like Bob Gajda, Sergio, Seno, Terry Strand and others that I grew up pumping iron with. Good luck on your training......And remember this, when you are training, I am training harder
Always pumping,
Frank

Opa Frank, Yes I too am looking forward to meeting you and the competition. My training will be the same as always.....HIT!! I've used it for over 35 years now. My training time weekly is less than 40 minutes By keeping my body fat where it is I will be able to eliminate any muscle burning cardio. Unfortunately there is way too much time......this is or has been the kiss of death for me. So keep me updated as this will keep me focused on the contest and you!! Dave

I found these about an hour ago, Dave, when searching for something else. They were in the June 1966 issue of JCG's MD in that "Young Strength Stars" column that they would occasionally run.

Opa Frank, Thanks for the update. Where will you be qualifying for the O? I am pretty sure John's North America is one. I may shoot for that one myself. Dave

OPA!!!! Frank, When you see Denie first say "HI" for me. Then ask him a very important question. Once one is qualified for the "O" is it mandatory to be on the USA Team in order to actually enter the contest............or can you enter without being on the Team?? You see he makes a killing on the team contest selling complete sweats with the logo and basically giving you nothing in return. On top of that it is usually in the LA area. Once you qualify by placing in the top five of a national contest you SHOULD be able to enter the "O" without being on the team. After my doing both the qualifier AND the Team contest I was broke and very disappointed with the medallion I got for a 4th place on the team. For $50.00 plus travel expences etc. it left me feeling RIPPED OFF!!! If you get my drift??!!! Don't mention that to him....... Dave

Dave Opa Dave - I know exactly how you feel because I have been there with him two years ago. I will seek an answer to your question and keeping it between us, I will advise. In the mean time keep on pumping!!
